Brookfield, WI — The local public accounting and business advisory firm of Vrakas/Blum, S.C. recently participated in its annual “Commitment to the Community” corporate volunteer event. Each year the firm sets aside a half day to assist a local nonprofit organization.
This year employees volunteered at Hope Center in Waukesha. More than 25 team members from Vrakas/Blum assisted in the half-day event on September 23, 2013. Participants split into several groups and spread out around the grounds to complete various projects. Tasks included sorting clothing, cleaning furniture, pulling weeds, laying mulch, and other general yard work. After a few hours of hard work, Hope Center was organized and had a fresh look outside.
Hope Center is a nonprofit ministry, committed to serving people in need in Waukesha County. The organization provides meals, furniture, clothing, and basic financial and legal services to individuals in the community. They also offer a clothing shop, day center, and a free children’s library. The number one goal of Hope Center is to prevent homelessness.
