Mike Thornton, CPA

Mike joined the tax department in 2020 and has over 20  years of experience in the public accounting industry. His responsibilities include tax consulting, compliance, and planning, as well as reviewing complex corporate, partnership, and individual tax returns for privately-held businesses and their shareholders. He works with clients across a broad range of industries, including manufacturing and various service-related sectors.

Additionally, Mike remains actively up-to-date on the ever-changing tax laws and regulations. He earned a Master of Science in Taxation degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2004 and his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 2003.

Throughout the years, Mike credits his success to the hard work he has put in, as well as his ongoing efforts to improve his knowledge and skill set. He enjoys working to understand how his clients’ businesses operate and using that knowledge to apply for specific tax benefits in every instance he can.

Mike currently resides in Colgate with his wife. Away from the office, he enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, running, traveling, scuba diving, and spending time outdoors whenever Wisconsin’s weather cooperates.
