Mary Czaja, CPA

Mary brings nearly 20 years of experience advising middle-market businesses and their owners through complex tax, accounting and growth-related challenges. She has served clients across a broad range of industries, including manufacturing, life sciences, technology, financial services, consumer products, and professional services.

At Vrakas, Mary leads the growth of the Chicago tax practice and provides a broad range of tax compliance and consulting services, advising clients on federal and state income tax matters, tax planning and strategic business initiatives. She brings deep expertise in corporate taxation and income tax accounting, including tax provision processes and transaction-related tax considerations. Her technical expertise and practical business perspective allow her to partner effectively with CFOs, controllers and business owners on routine tax matters and complex strategic initiatives.

Mary has advised privately held and family-owned businesses, private equity-backed companies, and public and multinational organizations through periods of significant growth, acquisitions, restructurings and other transformative business events. She works closely with executive leadership teams to evaluate tax implications, manage risk and support successful outcomes.

Throughout her career, Mary has developed a reputation for translating complex tax matters into practical business advice. She takes a collaborative approach to client service, with a goal of serving as a trusted advisor who helps clients make informed business decisions, not simply address tax compliance requirements.

Mary earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Master of Accountancy from Bradley University and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Illinois. She resides in Bartlett, Illinois, and enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
