James A. Holmes

Jim began his career in accounting with Vrakas CPAs + Advisors in 1985. As President and Managing Shareholder, he is responsible for key strategic management and decision-making activities for the firm. Jim also serves as a leader in the tax department, providing specialized services to real estate businesses and manufacturing companies. In addition, he focuses on strategic tax planning services for high net worth individuals and business owners.

During his successful tenure with Vrakas, Jim has developed and implemented various programs to promote the growth and well-being of Vrakas and its team members. He directs the firm’s initiatives for professional development, technology innovation and high quality client service. As a result of Jim’s influence, Vrakas continues to exceed clients’ expectations and attract new business opportunities.

In addition to his accomplishments as Managing Shareholder, Jim has provided leadership on many of the firm’s most challenging client projects. He has helped clients achieve their financial goals through innovative, well-designed tax and business advisory services. He has also worked on cost segregation studies, allowing his clients to realize significant savings in their net present value tax dollars.

Jim became interested in accounting from a very young age and has an early memory of his third grade teacher suggesting he would make a good accountant. He attributes his success to his ongoing commitment to furthering his knowledge in the accounting industry, which he shares as a frequent speaker at various client seminars. Jim also considers his personality and his close client relationships to be critical elements of his ability to generate value for his clients.

Born and raised in Racine, Jim currently resides in Waukesha with his wife, Holly. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, hiking, and visiting different baseball stadiums across the country.
