Jim Holmes, CPA

Jim began his accounting career with Vrakas CPAs + Advisors in 1985. As the firm’s Director, Jim leads specialized services to real estate businesses and manufacturing companies within the firm’s tax department. Additionally, he specializes in strategic tax planning services for high-net-worth individuals and business owners.

Additionally, Jim has provided leadership on many of the firm’s most complex client projects, helping clients achieve their financial goals through innovative, well-designed tax and business advisory services. He has also worked on cost segregation studies, enabling his clients to realize significant savings in their net present value tax dollars.

Jim served as the firm’s President and Managing Shareholder from 2006 to 2020. During his successful tenure, Jim developed and implemented various programs to promote the growth and well-being of Vrakas and its team members. He directed the firm’s initiatives for professional development, technology innovation, and high-quality client service. As a result of Jim’s influence, Vrakas continues to exceed clients’ expectations and attract new business opportunities.

Jim became interested in accounting from a very young age and has an early memory of his third-grade teacher suggesting he would make a good accountant. He attributes his success to his ongoing commitment to furthering his knowledge in the accounting industry. Jim also considers his personality and close client relationships critical elements of his ability to generate value for his clients.

Jim resides in Waukesha with his wife, Holly. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors.
