Andy Kamphuis, CPA

Andy brings nearly 15 years of professional service and corporate controllership experience serving clients across various industries and ownership structures before joining Vrakas as a Shareholder in 2022.

At Vrakas, Andy serves as Managing Director at our Chicago office and is responsible for growing our Midwest client base while developing a team of professionals dedicated to exceptional client service. Additionally, Andy specializes in audit, review, compilation, and accounting advisory services primarily with privately held, for-profit companies across various industries, including family, private equity, and ESOP-owned companies.

Throughout his professional service career, Andy has consistently led with his client service philosophy of being a highly valued and responsive financial professional, proactive in identifying issues or opportunities, and collaborative in driving practical solutions that serve his client’s best interests for the long term. His client service experiences have included supporting clients through organizational change, capital restructuring, and other significant business and market adjustments that required him to adapt his services to their evolving needs.

In addition to his professional service experience, Andy was a Controller for a private equity portfolio company. His responsibilities included building an accounting and finance department, developing business processes, banking relationships and structure, due diligence and integration of acquisitions, and creating management reporting that drove more informed and strategic decision-making. These experiences allowed Andy to put himself in his client’s shoes and effectively develop practical solutions to their challenges.

Andy is passionate about our people-first culture and continually learns from each opportunity to improve our client service. He attributes his success to his ability to build strong relationships, his strong work ethic, his commitment to providing an exceptional experience to his clients, and his efforts to foster growth within his team.

Andy attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison and lives with his wife and children in Mokena, Illinois. Outside work, he enjoys cooking and spending time outdoors with his family, particularly at their lake house in northern Wisconsin.
