- 2017 Elmbrook Humane Society Spring Gala
Vrakas has been supporting the Mardi Gras Gala for the past three years. More than five million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s and by 2050 this number could rise as high as almost 16 million. The disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States killing more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. In 2017, Alzheimer’s and other dementias will cost the nation $259 billion. The Alzheimer’s Association, Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter is leading the fight against Alzheimer’s and the Gala is one of the biggest ways to help raise money needed to support the cause.
Vrakas has also been supporting the Elmbrook Humane Society Spring Gala for the past three years. Vrakas’ Tax Manager, James Broughton, is the current treasurer of the foundation. The theme of this years event was “There’s No Place Like Home” which pairs well with their mission statement to “provide shelter for homeless animals, promote the human animal bond, and prevent animal cruelty and neglect.”
Vrakas believes it is extremely important to support our local communities – “success shouldn’t be measured by how much you have, but by how much you give back.”
