Scott Syrjala, CPA

Scott joined Vrakas CPAs + Advisors in 2009 and quickly advanced to his present role as a Shareholder in the tax department. His primary focus is providing tax planning, compliance, and research support for privately held businesses and their owners in the construction, manufacturing, service, and retail industries. In addition to providing client services, Scott manages the firm’s personal property tax group and assists with developing and training department staff.

Throughout his career, Scott has gained valuable experience assisting clients with research and development credit analysis, determining the most advantageous accelerated cost recovery on capital expenditures, and examinations from the Internal Revenue Service and Wisconsin Department of Revenue.

Scott has developed a significant understanding, familiarity, and knowledge of the tax code and stays current on emerging changes to the tax code. The intricacies involved in determining tax credits and deductions, especially those available to the manufacturing industry, are areas Scott raises the challenge of addressing.

Although Scott serves clients in various industries, he has developed an increased focus on the construction industry. Scott has developed a significant understanding, familiarity, and knowledge from his experiences working with multiple construction clients throughout southeastern Wisconsin and attending continuing education seminars.

In addition to providing tax planning and compliance services to his clients, Scott also assists with developing and training department staff to ensure they remain knowledgeable about current tax laws and best practices.

Growing up in Antigo, Wisconsin, Scott had the privilege of having his father as his high school accounting teacher. He credits this fact and his family’s continued support and encouragement with today’s success. Away from the office, Scott enjoys golfing and spending time with his family and friends. He resides in Mukwonago with his wife and children.
