Mary Ellen Michaelson, CPA

Mary Ellen has been with the firm since 1999, spending 21 years in the tax department before joining our shareholder group. For the past few years, Mary Ellen has been an essential part of the Client Accounting & Advisory Services department, actively developing and growing the practice.

Mary Ellen is a shareholder who leads the Client Accounting & Advisory Services department. She leverages her payroll knowledge and QuickBooks experience to provide consulting and tax services, utilizing her expertise in privately held businesses, not-for-profits, and real estate partnerships.

Mary Ellen interned for the firm before joining Vrakas as a professional in 1998. Her experience throughout the years has helped her prepare for her current role by helping her learn the needs and goals of the firm’s clients, resulting in increased savings for them.

Mary Ellen was inspired to pursue a career in accounting due to her general interest in numbers. During high school, she had the opportunity to study abroad as a foreign exchange student, which further assisted her personal development. Mary Ellen attributes her professional success to her hard work, dedication, and focus on promptly finding the best solutions for her clients based on their specific situations and goals. She also credits her husband’s endless support for creating the extraordinary work environment at Vrakas.

Mary Ellen lives in the Village of Merton. In her free time, she loves spending time with her husband and two children, reading, and enjoying the outdoors.
