Vrakas CPAs + Advisors Volunteers with Blessings in a Backpack Waukesha County

For Vrakas’ 8th annual Volunteer Day we supported Blessings in a Backpack Waukesha County. Blessings helps “Bridge the Gap” by providing impoverished elementary school children with food on the weekends throughout the school year.

Our employees and their families packed 2,500 bags of food to be given to Waukesha Elementary School kids during the 2015/2016 school year. We had over 40 participants throughout the day. The volunteer project included bringing in 7 pallets of bulk food, un-packaging and sorting, packing the bags, and delivering the completed bags to Hadfield Elementary School in Waukesha.

Blessings in a Backpack Waukesha County was started in 2012 by 12 Waukesha-area women. The self-funded Waukesha Chapter started by serving 25 students at Hadfield Elementary School in Waukesha and has grown to currently serving 700 children at a total of four local schools.

Special thanks to Lakeside International Trucks for partnering with us to pick up and deliver the food and to Colliers International for use of the office space.
