Audit Manager

Vrakas CPAs + Advisors is one of the largest independent CPA firms in southeastern Wisconsin. We have been growing rapidly, and have recently opened a second office in fast-growing Kenosha community.

We are currently seeking an audit Manager for our Audit and Business Advisory practice in Brookfield, WI

Responsibilities

  • Supervising audit and review engagements for closely-held businesses
  • Consulting with clients on a variety of accounting and business matters
  • Training and developing staff
  • Assisting on accounting due diligence projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting with valid CPA License
  • 5+ years of public accounting experience
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong people skills

Audit Senior Associate 

Description

Small Business Accounting Associate 

Position Overview

Primary responsibilities will include assisting clients in closing their monthly books, preparing compilations, payroll tax returns, personal property tax returns, Wisconsin sales tax returns and individual and corporate tax returns for small to medium size, closely-held businesses. Additional responsibilities include QuickBooks support and payroll and bookkeeping functions.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Frequent client contact
  • Evaluate client maintained QuickBooks transactions and entries
  • Prepare adjusting journal entries
  • Support client questions regarding QuickBooks
  • Process trial balance from client supplied manual source documents
  • Compilation of financial statements
  • After-the-fact payroll tax filings and journal entries
  • Train, supervise, and review staff preparation of after-the-fact payroll
  • Maintain client Form 1099 compliance
  • Year-end income tax projections
  • Business income tax return preparation
  • Individual income tax return preparation
  • Accept overall in-charge responsibility for clients
  • Consider ways to streamline monthly and quarterly processes

Experience

  • Knowledge of QuickBooks – online and desktop
  • Knowledge of Sage 50 (Peachtree) helpful

Accounting Associate (Kenosha Office) 

Vrakas CPAs + Advisors is looking for an Accounting Associate to join our team in our newly opened Kenosha office. As an Accounting Associate at Vrakas, you will gain hands on experience and training in various areas, including audits, reviews, compilations, small business accounting, risk management, tax return preparation and tax research. You will also have exposure to many of the issues that are influencing the future of the profession and you will have numerous opportunities to work directly with partners, managers and other members of the Vrakas team.
The audit responsibilities will include:
  • Performing procedures in order to verify the accuracy of various financial statement accounts including cash and bank reconciliations
  • Accounts payable and receivable
  • Prepaid expenses, inventory, property and equipment
  • Accrued expenses and job cost testing

Accounting Associates will be a part of teams who on occasion perform work on-site at our client’s headquarters and work directly with controllers, chief financial officers and business owners during the term of the engagement.

The tax responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing various tax returns including corporate, partnership and individual returns as well as other federal and state filings.
  • In conjunction with the preparation of these returns, Accounting Associates will develop experience on a variety of tax planning and research projects.
Our Accounting Associates are trained on various computer software applications including, but not limited to:
  • Excel
  • Word
  • ProSystem fx (Workpaper, Trial Balance and Tax Preparation software)
  • BNA Fixed Assets and other related applications.

Qualifications
Successful candidates will have:
  • An undergraduate degree in accounting or an undergraduate degree with sufficient course work to sit for the CPA exam
  • Outstanding academic performance required, with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 and a minimum major GPA of 3.0
  • The ability to work effectively in a team environment with all levels of client personnel in various industries
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and collaboration skills
  • Integrity within a professional environment
